Pet owner shocked after black cat completely RUINS his carpet after stepping in black oil
A pet owner revealed his shock after waking up to find his cat had crept into the family home and destroyed the cream carpets after covering himself with oil.
Jamie Knight, 34, of Great Barr, Birmingham, found Darwin covered in thick black oil on December 23, although it is still unclear how that happened.
The feline had circled the house, leaving hundreds of black paw prints on the carpet, white walls, and colorful rugs throughout Jamie’s home.
However, Jamie’s main initial concern was his cat’s health and he drove Darwin to the emergency vet as soon as he could to clean up the oil.

Jamie woke up to a horror scene, with oil smeared on his bathroom floor and fixings after Darwin’s mishap
Recalling how his pet woke him up, Jamie said, “I was like ‘Is this Darwin?’ Because I could barely recognize him.
“I jumped out of bed and turned on the light to find Darwin covered from head to toe in oil. It was as if he had been completely overwhelmed.
“As soon as I saw him, I was so shocked and upset. I love Darwin and I didn’t want him to be upset.
“My other main concern was whether someone had done this to him maliciously and put him in oil.
Jamie had to spend hours cleaning his house as much as he could, but said his cream rugs were in shambles
Even the stairs were covered with oil stains after Darwin returned home. But Jamie’s main concern was the health and safety of his feline companion.
“I had never encountered anything like it before, so I went online to find the best thing to do to try and clean it up.
“I took it to the bathroom and started washing it with Fairy Liquid. He was crying in the bath. It was heartbreaking.
After not having had much luck cleaning Darwin and his now horror-like bathroom, Jamie decided it was best to take his beloved cat to the vet.
Jamie added, “We got to the vets around 2am and stayed there until 5am while they cleaned it up. They said they had never seen a case like this.
Jamie, who was expecting his family for Christmas, worked the night of December 23 to find his cat had come home covered in oil and wandered through every room in the house.
Jamie rushed Darwin to the vet, where the cat was treated for oil, and propped up with a neck protector
Horrified, Jamie said his carpet floor was beyond help after spending hours trying to clean up the mess
Poor Darwin was not the same after the incident, Jamie said, but he is recovering from the stressful event
After returning from vets in the early hours of Christmas Eve, it was time for Jamie to deal with the mess the incident had caused in his home.
Jamie said: “I was hosting my family for Christmas Day and my house was absolutely covered in hundreds of oily black paw prints. The bathroom was also a mess with thick black oil smothered all over it. It was such a mess.
“After I got home I spent about an hour cleaning as much as I could, then went to bed a few hours after being awake all night.
Hundreds of paw prints like these can be found around Jamie’s house. Cat lover said he hoped no one would willingly dip their cat in the oil
“I managed to clean most of the bathroom, but there was no way to clean the oil paw prints.
“We have cream rugs all over the house, they are completely ruined.
“The house is still a state. We will probably need to get all the new rugs in the house. It will cost a bomb.
Jamie spent hours trying to clean up the mess before his family arrived home for Christmas, but eventually had to give up
The prints spread from the lower level of the house to its upper level. The living room and the first floor are carpeted

“I also had to tell the family what happened before they arrived on Christmas Day.
“Darwin was such a friendly, confident and beautiful cat. Since the incident, he’s not himself at all. He just sits down and looks at his food.
“I hope he’ll come back to his old self soon. It must have been so traumatic for him.
“People should try to be more careful if they have oil containers. They should put blankets on it so that it doesn’t happen to someone else’s pet.
No room has been spared by Darwin’s oily paws, leaving marks all around the house that cannot be cleaned
