If you’re hoping to dive into a burrow of slow-motion videos, look no further than Gavin Free and Daniel Gruchy’s YouTube channel, better known as The Slow Mo Guys. Their efforts are quite captivating at normal speeds (spinning an apple so fast that it explodes, seeing how big a condom will inflate in a blower, bounce painting on a speaker, etc.), and decelerated versions are even more so.

In 2019, the duo took on daytime fireworks. For those who have never heard of the term, it doesn’t just describe the fireworks you set off before sunset: Daytime fireworks are specially designed to be viewed while the sun is still shining. While traditional fireworks usually involve bright explosions that look a bit like stars or sparklers, daytime fireworks are all made up of colorful smoke that contrasts with a bright sky.

For their show, the Slow Mo Guys lined up 60 boxes (or “firework cakes”) each containing 25 tubes of what would become colored smoke when detonated. After a flawed first try – the blue set did not fire – they tried again, this time parallel to the row of boxes as a reference point for the speed of the blast. According to Free and Gruchy, the result most closely resembled a “rainbow volcano” or what you would see if “the Muppets dropped a nuclear weapon”.

You can watch the entire episode below. Or, if you’re only interested in the slow motion show, it starts around 5:08 p.m.

CNY’s SPCA Finger Lakes Special for The Citizen

Every Friday, The Citizen features a pet available for adoption from the Finger Lakes SPCA in central New York City. This week, we’re spotlighting Kitty Boy.

RACE: Domestic short coat, white with orange

COMMENTS: Kitty Boy, along with many other felines and canines, came to live at the shelter when their former family could no longer care for them. They’ve adjusted well, but they all really want to be in their new home. There is no place like home!

Kitty Boy (he tells us he would like a new name) is the sweetest cat ever. He is so friendly and lovely to everyone. He loves attention and works hard to get it. Don’t just walk past her condo without stopping and talking to her. His feelings are easily hurt! Adopt Kitty Boy and you will have the best BFF!

Kitty Boy is fully vaccinated (rabies, distemper, feline kennel cough), is negative for FIV / FeLV, has been treated for parasites and is neutered. His suitcases are ready, he is ready to move on.

Q. Who is your best friend?

A. Well guess what !? Bruce was my best friend, and he finally made it home! We are all very happy for him, but his departure leaves a great void in our life at the shelter. I envision a few cats and even watch a dog or two. Athena and Belle, our beautiful pit bulls, came from the same place as me. I could suggest to one of them. They would be fun BFFs!

Junior tight end John Fitzpatrick took to Twitter on Wednesday afternoon to openly recruit current four-star tight end Oscar Delp. Delp is the third tight end in the recruiting class of 2022 and is at the top of Georgia’s board.

FitzPatrick tweeted the hashtag #DelpIsADawg which gets Georgia fans talking about the potential hiring of one of the best targets in the class and would be an announcement that could help turn the tide on the recent “loss of momentum” on the recruitment trail after a busy June.

In June, Delp made his five visits when he saw Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Michigan and South Carolina. During his visit to Athens, the much-vaunted tight end was pictured alongside current UGA pledges Gunnar Stockton (QB), DeNylon Morrisette and other unengaged prospects Branson Robinson (RB) and Kojo Antwi (WR). These five rookies would be known as Georgia’s potential “Fab Five” if UGA could get them all to Athens.

This recent trend is in response to Delp’s last visit to South Carolina, where they started a #WeWantDelp Twitter trend.

Delp has yet to set a timeline for a hiring decision, but is expected to step down from the board at some point early this fall. He is heavily recruited by programs like Clemson, Alabama, South Carolina, Michigan and of course Georgia. He visited all five schools this summer and at this point in his recruitment he is considered a skinny Georgian.

Anne Robinson, 76, was born in Crosby, north of Liverpool, to Irish parents. She started out as the first female intern on the Daily mail, and developed his trademark caustic style while writing the Daily Mirrorthe “Wednesday Witch” column. She began appearing on television in the 1980s, becoming a presenter of Points of view and Watch dog. Robinson is best known for the BBC game show The weakest link, and tomorrow takes over as the new host of Countdown, which airs at 2:10 p.m. every day of the week on Channel 4.

How does it feel to go back to the quiz worldshows?
I stopped doing The weakest link ten years ago when he moved to Glasgow – my grandchildren were just born and I didn’t want to be that far – but loved every episode I did. When Countdown happened, it was like a brilliant fit. It didn’t take long for me to say yes.

Were you a Countdown fan already?
I was. I love its light and its shadow. You’ve got the cerebral side – Susie Dent discusses the origin of words; Rachel Riley being a mathematical genius; competitors who are miracles at what they do – but you also have fun with chatty interludes. I’ve been pretty insistent on which guests I want in Dictionary Corner. We have people like Reverend Richard Coles and Julian Clary moving the conversation forward.

You were known as the “Queen of Wickedness” on The weakest link. Did you like that nickname, or has it become a grindstone around your neck?
It was never a grindstone. It wasn’t my initial intention to be horrible – I just didn’t want to be a nerdy game show host. Then I met the candidates, who were incredibly competitive and happy enough to be rude to each other, so I thought, “Oh well, I can be myself.” If the viewers at home were saying “Why is she so fat?” You might as well say it. It was wonderful never to let a thought go unnoticed.

Do you regret some of the sharpest things you said?
I wouldn’t be doing much now. We are very awake these days. But if I ever thought I had gone too far, I would tell them to delete it. That’s not to say that I haven’t met candidate mothers on the streets who told me they would never forgive me.

Will we see a warmer side for you on Countdown?
Probably yes. The difference is that we chat before the show starts, to help them relax. At The weakest link, I made a point of never meeting the candidates, not even on celebrity specials. Partly to keep the mood going, but partly because I never know what to say to celebrities.

There are very few female quizzesshow the hosts on television. Why is that?
All I know is that I broke all the rules throughout my career. When I was on the Mirror, I was the first woman to regularly publish a national newspaper. The guys must have been annoyed by the attention he got, because I had the same experience as them, I was just a woman. It’s all a bit bogus. When Countdown told me I was the first female host, I moaned. Suffice to say that I am the first guest with a cocker spaniel.

Is it nice to counter the trend of ageism? Few women get television jobs in their 70s …
They don’t get a job in their 50s either. I’m the oldest woman on TV who doesn’t judge cakes. I was not compliant in school and have never done so since. It’s handy to be a nutcase.

How has your education in Merseyside contributed to your character?
It was unconventional. I come from a long line of wild Irish alcoholic wolves. Liverpudlians, like Glasgowians, tend to be quick-witted. My family certainly was, so we kids had to follow.

Your mother was a wonderful figure who turned a market stall into a huge wholesale business. What did you learn from her?
Don’t be afraid of anything. And that the men were mostly rather funny. When Germaine Greer arrived, I wondered why she was so angry. I was not brought up thinking that women were mistreated because they didn’t have it in my house.

Would you describe yourself as a feminist?
No, because I like that women become more courageous in the negotiation and don’t see themselves as victims. In that sense, I am very pro-women. My generation broke down a lot of barriers, but now women feel more persecuted than we do.

Do you look back fondly on your career on Fleet Street?
I have been very lucky. All the things I missed from my education I learned from the newspapers. If I have had success on television, it is directly thanks to my training in journalism. Looking back, however, it was very sexist. The sous chef would deliberately leave your typewritten copy on the floor so you would bend down to pick it up and the men could see your panties. I never thought, “How dare they? I thought, “It won’t be long before I’m in charge of this batch. “

You got royal scoops in your journal days. Do you sympathize with Harry and Meghan?
Not a lot. Although ironically, I think their complaint about a member of the Royal Family worrying about their baby’s skin color – real or not – has in fact resulted in some change. This has improved the diversity and attitudes among palace staff. I was once removed from Mirror editing rotation for writing an article on Diana’s eating disorder. The palace no longer has this power over the press. The balance has shifted.

As an elder Points of view presenter doing do you think the BBC deserves the criticism it receives?
No. I really like the BBC, but the people at the top are making bad decisions – certainly about the Martin Bashir affair. It would be a real shame if we lost the BBC as we know it, especially radio. Everything is too micromanaged. The day supervisor saw the pilot of The weakest link and ordered 62 episodes on site. It would never happen now. There would be endless and disturbing committees. The last documentary I made for the BBC, six different people got their hands on my script. I went, “I’m not saying that. It’s not even grammatical.

You were the viewer’s champion in the face of authority over Watch dog. Do you still feel like a stranger?
Yes. People might ask me for selfies, but I hope I kept the sense of the absurd. I remember meeting Cherie Blair’s mom and thinking, “How stupid of me, I can’t be rude with Cherie’s outfits anymore.” You should never befriend or become one of these people.

How long have you been sober? Is it still difficult?
Forty-two years old. I think it’s harder not to eat chocolate. I almost killed myself. At worst, I weighed less than six stones. The doctor gave me two months to live. But if you can stop drinking when you have a problem, eventually you can get back to the level of talent you had and start over. I am grateful that this has happened to me. It gave me new life.

Is more writing going on?
I should write another book now but haven’t started it. Every day I feel guilty for making TV instead. I’m generally not a procrastinator so I don’t know why I find it difficult. Unless you’re my shrink, I don’t think I can discuss this with you.

How did your confinement go?
Thirteen out of 16 months were spent with my daughter and grandchildren. The day before the first lockdown, they left London and came to my house in the Cotswolds. They pulled into their station wagon and things kept coming out of the back: dogs, children, laptops, soccer balls, tennis rackets… it just kept on going. At first it was awful. Irritating, noisy and disturbing. But when they settled in we walked into a model and it was lovely. I even started to recycle. My daughter came in with a labeling machine – who’s wrapping that up when you rush to save your life? – and labeled my bins. We have been compared to Edina and Saffy from Ab Fab. I guess if you have a crazy mother you become an adult.

Terrence Shannon Jr.’s NBA Draft prospects are still alive and well with guard Red Raider entering the NBA combination this week with results that shake the rims. It’s no surprise to Red Raider fans that the ultra-athletic guard is dabbling on fools, but he may have raised some NBA Scouts’ eyebrows after that dunk on another Harvester participant- thresher.

This impressed Sportscenter who used it on Wednesday in its Top 10 Plays segment. He arrived at number 9.

Shannon’s traction stock shouldn’t be affected much by how physically he tested. The Boy Scouts already knew he was good at athletics, but there are a lot of talented athletes in the NBA combine, so Shannon’s numbers didn’t take him off the page. They certainly haven’t tanked his stock either. Solid numbers.

Shannon was not mentioned in the box scores of the two NBA combine scrimmages, so I’m working on the assumption that he’s seen as a late second-round prospect by those in charge. the NBA combine. He’s certainly a good enough player to be drafted with many teams succeeding at the end of the second and final round of the draft. It was reported yesterday that Shannon had met the Philadelphia 76ers who traded for Zhaire Smith a few NBA Drafts ago.

Just because Shannon is at the combine doesn’t mean he’ll stay in the draft pool. He has until the end of July to decide whether to stay or return to Texas Tech. I know Mark Adams would like Shannon to spend another year at Texas Tech and there is still a scholarship open for him to return. One of the reasons Texas Tech still has room.

For now, ESPN’s Jonathan Givony has Shannon as the Brooklyn Nets No.44 pick in his last mock draft. I also saw it later in the round, with a few projections sneaking into the first round. But these are rare.

Selfishly, I’m excited about the potential of a few more TSJ tomahawks in the United Supermarkets arena.

Some of my relatives live in Lancaster County, outside of Philadelphia, PA, and they always brought Amish food here in Connecticut when they came to visit us.

I went from Medium Dave to Large Dave eating Amish chips and the amazing chicken from this place called Gerber Amish Farms that they raised locally. I grew up respecting the Amish way of life and the Amish dedication to upholding their traditions. I’ve seen Amish furniture in a bunch of places around here, but Amish food is hard to find. I never see Gerber Amish Farms chicken, but that’s about to change.

I saw an article from ctpost.com that Fairfield, Connecticut is going to have an authentic Amish fried chicken restaurant. Inseparable is a group of three fried chicken restaurants in three different towns in Pennsylvania: Newtown, Doylestown, and Bryn Mawr, always misspelled and misspelled.

they are from announced on their social networks that they are expanding for the first time outside of Pennsylvania, into Connecticut, and that they are opening their fourth restaurant at 2385 Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield.

Here’s a Google Street View of the future location of the Fairfield Lovebird, it’s a small mall along the Black Rock Turnpike, and it’s going to smell like the kitchen bird soon there.

Lovebird uses Gerber Chicken Amish Farms and they produce some of the best chickens I’ve ever had. Lovebird’s menu looks simple – fried chicken, chicken sandwiches, popcorn chicken, a few salads and bowls, a few sides and that’s it. Simple and tasty cuisine. I can’t wait to try it on the opening.

Calling all blood donors in Yakima Valley.
The American Red Cross is facing a serious blood shortage as the number of cases of trauma, organ transplants and elective surgeries rises – and depletes the nation’s blood supply. Donors of all blood groups – especially type O and those who donate platelets – are advised to make an appointment to donate as soon as possible to avoid further impact on patients.
Today, hospitals are responding to an unusually high number of trauma and emergency room visits, as well as resulting overdoses and transplants.
Compared to 2019, the Red Cross saw demand for trauma centers increase by 10% in 2021, more than five times the growth of other establishments that provide blood transfusions.

Patients need the help of the American people. Make an appointment to donate blood now by using the Red Cross blood donation app, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or by activating the blood donation skill on any Alexa Echo device.

As more than a third of Americans have become fully vaccinated against COVID-19, the red To cross Ends COVID-19 antibody testing for donated blood, platelets and plasma. Until June 25, the red To cross tests all donations for COVID-19 antibodies. Tests can show possible exposure to the virus or whether a donor has developed an immune response to the vaccination. The conclusion of red To cross Antibody testing represents a new phase of hope as the nation continues to emerge from this pandemic.

Despite Damian Lillard’s best efforts in the Trailblazers’ first round playoff game against the Denver Nuggets.

They were eliminated in the first round for the fourth time in five seasons. Lillard and the Blazers lost a double-digit lead in the second half of Game 6. The Nuggets would beat Portland 126-115. The six-second game collapse for the Blazers comes on the heel of Damian Lillard losing a 55-point masterpiece, but he will be overlooked by a 147-140 Nuggets win.

After the Trailblazers were eliminated, fans and the mainstream media created the narrative that Lillard should be thinking about leaving.

Earlier this week, I spoke with former Blazer Damon Stoudamire and asked him if he thought it was time for Lillard to request a trade.

“I’m Damian Lillard’s biggest fan, and I think if they’re not going to help him. He has to bounce back, but you know I’m going to say this, I think Damian Lillard is the best Trailblazer ever, personally. I do, and I grew up in Portland, and that’s exactly what I think. At this point he wants to stay in Portland, and nothing is guaranteed because you can be traded and you’re going to win, ”Stoudamire told Clubhouse at Courtside With Dukes.

“If he stays in Portland, he has to find a way to isolate himself in the front office and try to make the team his own when he’s done playing. I would love to see the Blazers do well with him one way or another. I would love to see him stay too, but I don’t see how they could improve.

On Wednesday night, Lillard was on Instagram Live on CHECKBALL SPORTS TALK with Mistah Fab and reiterated that he has no plans to leave Portland.

Mistah Fab asked Lillard if her heart was still invested in Portland?

“You know where my heart is. I have nothing more to say on this subject ”, Lillard said.

Damian Lillard has received praise from ESPN analyst Jalen Rose for not wanting to leave a small market to attempt a championship.

“I love that Dame stayed with the Portland Trail Blazers. Drop your anchor, like these guys did. It doesn’t stop you in the endorsements. Who gets more ads than Lady? Does anyone get more ads than Dame? It’s not because he’s in a big market. It’s because he’s a great player ”, said Rose.

Lillard finished the season with 28.8 points. 4.2 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game in 67 games of play.
